PPCC Reiterates Roles, Functions Of Procurement Committee Members

The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), in collaboration with the World Bank will this Friday, December 12, 2008 hold a one day workshop for heads of Procurement Committees, their deputies, and financial comptrollers from various procuring entities of the Liberian government.


The workshop which seeks to reiterate the roles and functions of Procurement Committee members in the Tendering Process as enshrined in Sub-Part II, Section 27 of the PPC Act, will take place in the Conference Room of Krystal Oceanview Hotel in Mamba Point.


The workshop will be facilitated by international procurement specialists from the World Bank and International Procurement Agency (IPA).  PPCCís Executive Director Joseph S. Neufville will also present paper at the occasion.             


 Liberiaís Vice President, Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai will deliver the keynote address at the occasion. Several dignitaries including senior officials of government are expected to grace the occasion.


The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) was created by an Act of the National Legislature in September 2005 to oversee all public procurement and concessions processes in Liberia. It has the core objective to ensure the economic and efficient use of public funds through public procurement and to ensure that public procurement and concession processes are conducted in a fair, transparent and non-discriminatory manner to ensure value for the use of public funds.
