PPCC conducts series of workshops

PPCC CONDUCTS SERIES OF WORKSHOPS


The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) in collaboration with the European Commission recently (Feb 8 ñ March 18), conducted series of workshops in mineral commodity markets for personnel of selected govt. ministries and Agencies.


The workshop were intended to acquaint the personnel with the method and procedures in mineral commodity market and trends, build capacity, as well as strengthen them on the public procurement and concessions processes among others.


Dr. Joseph Christian NGot Kongolo, a mining Engineer and an European Commission mineral commodity markets expert conducted the workshops.


Participants were drawn from Ministries of Finance, Planning and Economic Affairs and Lands, Mines and Energy. Others were: Bureau of Customs, National Investment Commission, General Audit Commission, National Oil Company of Liberia and the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC).


 


 


The Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC) has completed a ten-day intensive training program for 45 procurement directors.


At the start of the training, the World Bank Lead Procurement Specialist and Coordinator of the Ghana Hub Amadou Tidiane Toure urged the participants to take the exercise serious.


He said procurement directors are at the forefront of the battle for establishing the good working relationship between the Government of Liberia and the World Bank development partners.


Mr. Toure challenged the participants that having acquired the skills and knowledge as a result of the training, they ìneed to establish good relationship with the private sector based on trustî.


Participants were awarded certificates at the close of the training.


The workshop was facilitated by three (3) World Bank Sponsored procurement specialists. They include Clement Ahiawodzi, Umolo Ugwah and Thomas Love Jarry.


The second phase of training for another batch of procurement directors is expected to commence shortly.
